The Oryx bullet has a lead core, meaning that the jacket and core are permanently bonded together. This strong bond prevents the bullet from cracking or tearing on impact, even through thick bone. To ensure optimal expansion at any impact velocity, the Oryx has a thin front jacket with internal baffles. The brazed joint and thicker rear jacket provide very high weight retention (often over 90%) and excellent penetration. With rapid diameter expansion and no breakage, the Oryx creates a wide penetration channel and reduces tissue damage. The high weight retention also provides good penetration and high energy release. Oryx has been Norma's flagship series since its introduction in 1996. It is known worldwide for its outstanding performance. The Oryx bullet is unique in that it expands quickly for lethal bullets, but also maintains its weight and has high penetration for the most demanding applications.
